Canadian Mill Supply Co. Ltd. is proud to be an industry leader in
the area of improving the Indoor Air Quality within the facilities of
the companies and institutions with which we deal. Employees are
literally becoming ill as a result of Indoor Air Quality problems
resulting in billions of dollars in lost productivity in Canada each
year. The long term effects resulting from the use of harsh cleaners
and solvents which we commonly expose the people who work and live in
these buildings and the resulting exposure to future litigation is
currently unknown. Statistics Canada, however, has stated that
childhood asthma has nearly quadrupled in Canada between 1984 and
1995. Asthma, which is aggravated by exposure to chemicals, now
accounts for more lost school days than does the common cold.
Furthermore, the increase in the number of people in the general
population who are sensitive to even small amounts of airborne
fragrances and chemicals has dramatically increased. Legislation was
introduced in British Columbia in 1998, and is being considered in
many other jurisdictions throughout the country, which brings added
responsibility to the building owner/operator to supply quality indoor
air or face stiff financial penalties.
The Healthy Building Program is a revolutionary system which seeks to
improve the Indoor Air Quality of a facility by reducing the levels of
those factors which create the problem: Dust and Particulate, Volatile
Organic Compounds (VOC) and Biological Factors. Each aspect of a
building is considered including, but not limited to: HVAC systems,
entrance matting, exposure to harsh cleaning chemicals, potential
reactions between chemicals, door and window seals, operations within
the facility, lighting as well as many other associated matters.
Although in some cases it is necessary to incur additional expenses in
order to quickly raise cleaning standards in a property which has
fallen behind (for example, improve filtration on vacuums and HVAC
equipment and upgrade entrance matting) costs can be controlled
through the use of chemical management systems, our Low Maintenance
Floor Care system and proper training of staff.

health and welfare of those who live and work in your facility and
